Volunteering on the Day

Big Tree Night is run by a tiny team of volunteers, and we couldn't make it happen without a little help from our friends! Nigel, pictured here with some of the BTN team, gave up his weekend to help put up more than 50 Christmas trees along the High Street.

On the night itself we need even more of our wonderful community to join in. If you can give us just 30 minutes on Wed 9th Dec 2026, you'll be part of something magical.

Afternoon help (1pm - 4pm): help set up the stage, or man a road barrier for half an hour during the day.

Evening help (4pm - 10pm): sign up for a 30-minute shift on our road barrier rota, or lend a hand with the tidy-up.

Any time you can give us on the day is a huge help - it's your chance to give something back to this amazing community.

Tree Dressing

Help us make Shepperton sparkle!

Every Christmas, more than 50 Christmas trees light up Shepperton High Street - but first, they all need wrapping in fairy lights!

On a Sunday morning at the end of November, our volunteers get together to prepare the trees ready for Christmas.

The more hands we have, the quicker we can do it. No special skills needed - just come along, grab a tree and join in for an hour or so.

Then, when you see the High Street sparkling, you can say "I helped do that."

Become a Committee Member

Every year, the Big Tree Night Committee loses a few members for personal or professional reasons, so we're always looking for people who live or work in Shepperton to join us as regular members of the organising committee.

We average around 45 stalls and 5,000-7,000 attendees each year. We're a not-for-profit organisation, raising money for local charities and reinvesting the rest back into the event - including installing and maintaining the Christmas trees and lights across Shepperton.

If you'd like to join us, you'll need to be reliable and have some time to spare (mostly Wednesday evenings, 6-8pm, though daytime or weekend help is useful too), energy, enthusiasm, and a good sense of humour.
